Following news earlier this week that Paramount will be distributing Terminator 5, Arnold Schwarzenegger has confirmed that he’ll be starring in the film and shooting will begin early next year.
Here’s what the actor told ArnoldFans.com:
In fact, I’m very happy that the studios want me to be in Terminator 5 and to star AS the Terminator, which we start shooting in January and I’m also going to do King Conan – to play that role and also to do another Twins movie. So I feel very proud of that. I feel very happy and I’m looking forward to doing those films.”
Story details on the fifth film haven’t been revealed yet. Megan Ellison’s Annapurna Pictures (Zero Dark Thirty, The Master) picked up the rights to the franchise a few years ago and will be putting them to use before they revert back to James Cameron in 2019. There’s room for at least two movies in that time, but first Terminator 5 need a director. Justin Lin was originally attached but he had to focus on Fast and the Furious 6. Could his recent departure from that franchise mean he’s back in contention for Terminator 5?
Patrick Lussier (Drive Angry) and Laeta Kalogridis (Shutter Island) are working on the script, and with an early 2014 shoot planned we should be hearing a lot more information in the near future.
