One of the most memorable scenes from the first Scream movie in 1996 was when Ghostface harassed and subsequently murdered Drew Barrymore during the opening. Director Wes Craven and writer Kevin Williamson who were responsible for that scene are back for Scream 4, and they may have found their next ‘Drew Barrymore’.
Well, they may have found two of them as according to USA Today Anna Paquin and Kristen Bell are set to cameo in the film which is currently shooting in Michigan. There is no mention of what roles they will play, but as the main and supporting roles are filled one can assume they won’t be in the film for long…if you know what I mean.
Earlier this year Craven said that part of the story will focus on Sidney (Neve Campbell) who has “kind of put her life back together in the course of these 10 years. But, certainly, there would be no Scream without Ghostface, so she has to confront him again, but now as a woman who has really come out the darkness of her past.”
Gale (Courteney Cox) and Dewey (David Arquette) will also be returning, and Ghostface will have fresh meat with new additions Emma Roberts, Hayden Panettiere, Adam Brody and Rory Culkin.
Specific details on the plot have been kept under-wraps (obviously they don’t want people to work out who the killer is before they see it), however Dimension Films are happy to let everyone know the release date has been set for 15th April 2011.
