Matthew Vaughn will direct the X-Men: First Class sequel
Angela Bassett, who would have made a great Storm in the X-Men movies if she didn’t turn the role down, has joined the cast of Green Lantern. According to Variety she will play Dr. Amanda Waller, a scientist who in comics is highly trained in logistics, strategic management, military tactics, and espionage.
In the past Dr. Amanda Waller has been involved in a few storylines involving the Justice League, and some think the character could be a sign that Warner Bros. intend to crossover some of the characters between upcoming D.C films, just like what Marvel are currently doing.
Bassett is a great (Oscar nominated) addition to the Green Lantern cast, which currently consists of Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan, Blake Lively as Carol Ferris, Mark Strong as Sinestro, Peter Sarsgaard as Hector Hammond and Tim Robbins as Senator Hammond.
Filming is currently taking place in New Orleans under the direction of Martin Campbell (Casino Royale).
