Being a reboot, Marc Webb’s Spider-Man has gone in a slightly different direction to Sam Raimi’s movies in most of the key areas. We have a new main love interest in Gwen Stacy, a new villain in The Lizard, new origins, and now it has been revealed that Peter Parker will be using artificial web-shooters as his mode of transportation this time round.
Some fans thought that this might be the case following the release of the first official image of Garfield as Spider-Man last week which showed metal discs on the wrists.
In an effort to appear more realistic the producers and Sam Raimi decided to use organic web in the original movie, which annoyed some fans, but as the movies were great people got used to the idea. Now it appears Marc Webb has gone back to the comics by using artificial web-shooters, as Emma Stone revealed to MTV:
“It’s a device,” Emma Stone told MTV News during the Golden Globe Awards when asked about the silver discs on Garfield’s costume.
It could be the case that Parker is just using the device to aim his web, but we can assume mechanical web-shooters are used until we hear otherwise. Which web would you prefer?
Spider-Man will be released July 3rd 2012 and also stars Rhys Ifans as the Lizard, Martin Sheen as Uncle Ben and Irrfan Khan as the “Proto-Goblin,” a test subject of Norman Osborn’s experimentations.
