This new Mummy has big plans for Tom Cruise, but even he might not be enough to save her movie. Watch the official 2nd trailer for Universal’s new The Mummy reboot.
“2,000 years ago, the Egyptian princess Ahmanet murders her father and is punished by being buried alive in a tomb deep beneath the sands. After her tomb is rediscovered and opened in modern times, she is resurrected, bringing with her a malevolent grudge that has grown over millennia and terrors that will defy all of humanity.”
I really do hope I’m wrong and this movie ends up great, but what they’ve showed so far of The Mummy doesn’t exactly inspire confidence. Now don’t get me wrong, this all looks very expensive and pretty well produced, sadly it also seems confusing and all over the place tonally. Then again, I thought World War Z was going to be a complete dumpster fire and that turned out okay. So yeah, please be good, I really do want a new good Mummy movie.
Alex Kurtzman directed the reboot while Jon Spaihts (Doctor Strange) and Christopher McQuarrie (Mission: Impossible 6) wrote it. Starring in the film are Tom Cruise, Sofia Boutella, Russell Crowe (as Dr. Henry Jekyll, Jake Johnson and Annabelle Wallis.
The Mummy opens June 9th in the US and around most of the world.
