Looks like director Mikael Hafstrom has found his female lead for The Tomb. Variety reports that Oscar-nominee Amy Ryan will star in the action thriller opposite Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger, and they reveal a few more additions to the cast as well: Vincent D’Onofrio, Vinnie Jones, and 50 Cent.
Stallone is the lead protagonist in the film, an architect who designs a super-prison and is then framed and put into that very prison. Schwarzenegger plays an inmate who keeps the prisoners together in their time of need, and Jim Caviezel is set to play the warden of the prison. Amy Ryan will be Stallone’s partner and love interest, while D’Onofrio plays the deputy director of Prisons Bureau and Jones taking on the role of a sadistic prison guard. No word yet on 50 Cent’s role, but based on his off-screen persona, I don’t think it’s out of line to assume he’ll be playing an inmate.
This whole movie sounds pretty great to me, especially under the direction of Hafstrom, who worked wonders in a confined setting with 1408. Are you as excited for this one as I am?
