Development In Fox vs Warner Bros ‘Watchmen’ Case

Back in February news appeared that 20th Century Fox had filled a lawsuit against Warner Bros over Zack Synder's upcoming Watchman movie. The whole case is a bit complicated and here is what it's all about: Fox claims that between 1986 and 1990, it acquired all movie rights to the 12-issue DC Comics series and screenplays by Charles McKeown and Sam Hamm. In 1991, Fox assigned some rights via a quitclaim to Largo International with the understanding that the studio held exclusive rights to distribute the first…

Game Pushed Back To Summer 2009

According to Scifi.com Gerard Butler's Game has been pushed back to Summer next year to complete visual-effects work. Game, from writer/directors Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor (Crank), is the story of a futuristic video game in which players control actual human beings, including Butler's Kabel. Creating the video-game world poses visual-effects challenges. "Game is a 'sim-world' movie, so you have a young kid who is controlling an avatar," Lucchesi said. "There are lots of visual effects." This is fine by me, and just means 2009 will be a heck…

Justice League Official Dead. For Now Anyway.

Despite having a wealth of characters from the DC world, Warner Bros have only managed to make Batman profitable with Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. Catwoman had the wrong creative team and Superman Returns didn't meet expectations. More recently they have been trying to follow Marvel's road by having a team movie, the Justice League. However the main problems were that fans didn't particularly want it, and neither did Australia.

From Variety: "We're not off the notion of a Justice League," Robinov says. "There's a massive interest…

Simon Pegg Off Inglorious Bastards…However…

Simon Pegg today revealed that he will no longer be appearing in Quentin Tarantino's Inglorious Bastards. "I won't be appearing in QT's forthcoming Inglorious Bastards due to insurmountable scheduling difficulties. We really tried to make it work but in the end, it just was not possible without severe ramifications elsewhere." However, there is some good news in the Pegg department. His next film with onscreen partner Nick Frost, entitled Paul, will be directed by Superbad director Greg Mottola. From Empire: Details on the script are minimal at the moment, but…

Heath Ledger’s Final Movie Having Trouble Selling

Heath Ledger's latest movie, The Dark Knight is currently sitting in the top 30 highest grossing movies of all time, yet his final movie, The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, is not having the same success. Ledger was half way though filming when he died, and to honor him Johnny Depp, Colin Farrell and Jude Law decided to complete his role. You would think a movie staring those three actors and the fact that it was Ledger's last film would make distributors fight over it like animals. However, that is…
