The WGA Strike And What It Means To Us

There is a lot of tension in Hollywood right now. It’s been discussed for the past few months, but it looks like it just may become a reality. The Writer’s Guild of America very well may begin to strike as early as Monday. They voted by more than a 90% margin to allow their leaders to launch a walk-out. Sure, this sounds like it’s a bad thing, but I don’t think many people actually understand what is going on and how this will effect entertainment in their daily lives. First, a bit of history. The last time the WGA went on strike

Whedon Returns To TV With ‘Dollhouse’

Fox just greenlit Dollhouse, written by Joss Whedon and starring Eliza Dushku, for a seven episode order. I love Joss Whedon. I’m a sucker for pretty much anything the man does. I purchased the Buffy Box Set in April, and spent the summer watching the entire series. I asked for the Angel Box Set for my birthday. I loyally read “The Astonishing X-Men” whenever a new issue DOES come out. So when I heard he was coming back to television, needless to say, I was excited. A few weeks ago, it was reported that Eliza Dushku, everyone’s favorite anti-slayer, had signed a

The Rock Is Black Adam

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson recently asked his fans whom should he should play in the upcoming Shazam! movie: Black Adam or Captain Marvel. Thousands of people wrote in to him and choose Black Adam. Though the role isn’t exactly a done deal yet, The Rock met with director Peter Segal to discuss the role, and said that the character is being changed a bit to meet his strengths. We should expect an official announcement sometime next week.

NBC Finds Its ‘Knight Rider’

NBC has done the impossible, and has found someone to replace ‘The Hoff.’ Justin Bruening is set to star in the Knight Rider pilot later this season. Bruening, who is currently starring on All My Children, will be playing the son of Michael Knight from the original series. This new version of Knight Rider is said to be inspired a bit from Transformers, where the car will actually be able to transform into different forms to help Bruening’s character. Dave Andron wrote the pilot, and Steve Shill is going to direct and serve as co-executive producer.

‘Heroes’ Spin-Off On Hold

A lot of things suffer from what we like to call “The Sophomore Slump.” Kevin Smith went through it with the backlash of Mallrats. ABC waded through it during the second season of Lost. Even some musicians aren’t safe from this curse. One of the things affected by this right now is Heroes. The first season was fantastic (minus a few bumps caused by its two month hiatus and the lackluster season finale). This season has been all over the place and very sporadic, with no real ‘thread’ pulling everything together. This has caused many of its viewers, and quite a

X-Files To Be Re-Opened in 2008

I can’t even remember how many times the FBI has shut down the X-Files division. Didn’t it happen every other season? Do they even HAVE an X-Files division anymore, after the cluster f*$% that was the final season? Anyway, after years of saying “It’s going to happen,” it looks like David Duchovny is finally correct. X-Files 2 is a go. Not only is it a go, but we have more concrete information than ever before. First off, series creator Chris Carter will be directing this time out. Obviously, Duchovny is on board, and Gillian Anderson has just signed on as well. And

Cloverfield Finally Gets Named

For the past few months, JJ Abrams has kept us in the dark. Actually, that’s a lie. The man has been confusing us for years with his projects, such as Alias and Lost. However, what I’m referring to now is the upcoming giant monster movie that he is producing. Details have been quite scarce about it since we saw the trailer a few months back. All we know is that something tears off the Statue of Liberty’s head, and the movie comes out 1-18-08. Also, mysterious photos and messages keep popping up on the films website, 1-18-08.com. Did you hear

Joker Instigates A Scavenger Hunt

The Joker has been a busy man. For the past few weeks, there has been a pumpkin on the viral website Whysoserious.com with the Batman symbol carved into this mouth. However, like any good pumpkin left out in the elements for a long time, it began to rot. And rot. And rot some more. Yesterday, it got to the point where it revealed a hidden message behind it. The message contained cryptic clues that instructed people from major cities all across the United States to go out and take pictures of various places and send them in. Essentially, it was a
