20 Robots In Transformers 2?

Transformers 2 screenwriter Roberto Orci has made a interesting post on Don Murphy’s message board about the sequel, which says:

I’d love and think we could almost barely manage ten on each side, with some front and center and others as more supporting.

Could there really be 20 different robots? Would that be too many?

I know there were problems in X-Men 3 with accommodating all the different characters and giving them meaningful roles, and that may be the case here. I can imagine there being 20 robots but some will most likely come into play when it is convenient for the plot. However, the writer could just be getting a little excited.

Another interesting theory is:

More robots = more toys = more money

I am pretty sure most kids have already got the robots from the first Transformers movie, so adding more robots that do cool things will make kids go crazy for them. Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins lowered its rating to PG-13 and signed a big merchandising deal, so could be entering a stage where toys and merchandise affect what we see on screen? Is that stage already here?
